The Gebrike Mountains run for two thousand miles along the eastern edge of the continent. They are nearly impassible on the surface, though there are a few goblin and svirfneblin tunnels that allow limited contact with the western plains. The rocky terrain is unforgiving and are therefore rarely visited by members of civilized races. This has made them a haven for tribes of orcs and goblins, as well as many more monstrous creatures who have found a way to survive in the harsh mountains.
The mountains are rich in mithril and silver, as well as gems, especially emeralds and diamonds. This has enticed the dwarves and some more hardy humans to build mining cities, especially near the Vodospa Valley where it is easier to transport the goods for trade. These cities are almost all independent, each run by a Dwarven clan-elder, though they sometimes join forces to fight off the strongest of their mountain enemies.
The dwarves have found great tunnels deep within the mountains. Some of these are apparently carved by goblins, seeking easier paths through the range, but some continue down into the underdark, The dwarves have even found drow and duergar and worse lurking in these caves. When found, these tunnels are quickly collapsed, and mining proceeds in other directions. But the frequency of these tunnels is worrying to many, especially near The Edge where many seem recently carved.
